About Yvonne Bregman


Yvonne Bregman, LCSW, LICSW has a private psychotherapy practice in Oxford, England, and also participates in Tele-health Zoom sessions. She specializes in working with parents, those recovering from trauma, individuals experiencing life transitions, such as divorce, bereavement, relocation and existential issues. Having lived and worked in five different countries (in Asia and Europe), Ms. Bregman brings both a professional and personal perspective to those who have relocated overseas or are struggling with cultural challenges.


Ms. Bregman's experience in the Mental Health field includes, but is not limited to serving as Program Coordinator for the William B Hoyt Memorial Grant and as the co-oiginator of the Family Empowerment Project. Through this work, Yvonne has helped over 100 families. She had been a Give An Hour Provider for almost 20 years and had volunteered to provide "Emotional PPE" to health care workers who may be struggling from their work during the COVID-19 crisis. Ms. Bregman had provided care to individuals in their homes, in prisons, in women's shelters and in her private practice.


She is licensed in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Yvonne has an MA and MSW from Columbia University and has done post-graduate training at the Justice Resource Institute Trauma Center in Brookline, MA for a Certification in Trauma Treatment with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk. She continued her training with Dr. Daniel P. Brown, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology at Harvard University in the use and practice of hypnosis. During a two year externship, Ms. Bregman attended weekly lectures in Massachusetts to learn her skills in clinical hypnosis. She is a certified member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), a research and training society of physicians, nurses, psychologists, dentists and social workers who utilize hypnosis in the care of their patients. Yvonne is also a member of Anxiety Disorder Association and NASW.


Additionally, she completed the Level I Training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with Dr. Patricia Ogden, originator of the modality. She is certified in Trauma informed Yoga and has trained with Dr. Sue Johnson, author of Hold Me Tight - Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love, in EFT- Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. Yvonne has also become more interested in the role of compassion for self-healing and has taken The Core Skills Training course with Drs. Kristen Neff and Chris Germer (Center for MSC.org) as well as their courses on Fierce Compassion and Compassion as an Antidote to Shame. Ms. Bregman was a guest lecturer at WestConn for fellow therapists on the topic of Self-Compassion.


Yvonne is certified in Global Mental Health: Trauma and Recovery: a program "implemented in response to a call for training in mental health capacity building by Ministers of Health of 38 countries during an historic meeting in Rome in 2004. Advances in the neurosciences, psychosocial interventions, and community development were taught. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, racial trauma, and climate change were also covered. The intent of the program is to focus on leadership development in the mental health and humanitarian fields. She received credits from Harvard Medical School and certification from the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma.


Ms. Bregman has completed the Nalanda Institute Compassion-Based Resilience Training with Dr. Joe Loizzo, who "developed CBRT in 1998 for my clients at Columbia Presbyterian Eastside by integrating timeless techniques for contemplative self-regulation from India and Tibet with contemporary breakthroughs in neuroscience, positive psychology and optimal health." Finally, Ms. Bregman receives regular supervision of her work from Dr. Lorne Ladner author of "The Lost Art of Compassion" among other publications.
